Top Family Dinner for Active Families

Healthy meals are a necessity for an active family. It helps to replenish lost nutrients, promote health and vitality and enhance physical growth and development. My family is a sports family. Dinner is especially important for active families because after a long day of activities, you need something that would make up for lost nutrients without upsetting sleeping patterns. Here I will give you a simple family dinner idea for active families. It’s very easy and quick to make and wouldn’t have you in the kitchen for too long.

  • Quinoa Vegetable Burger
  • Prep time: 30-45 Minutes
  • Ingredients
  • 1 medium or large sized egg
  • A teaspoon of minced garlic
  • A tablespoon of canola oil
  • A cup of water
  • A cup of diced onion
  • 2 cups of white button mushrooms
  • Three-quarter tsp of dried marjoram
  • A quarter teaspoon of dried oregano
  • Half a cup of red quinoa
  • Two-Third cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • Half a cup of toasted and finely chopped pecans
  • One-third cup of quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 1 Tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 8 whole wheat burger buns


  • Bring the water and Quinoa to boil in a medium saucepan and cover it.
  • Leave it to cook for 15 minutes. Remove it from the heat and leave it to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Now, preheat your oven to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease your baking pan while you wait for it to heat up.
  • Heat your oil over medium heat and then pour in the onions and continue to stir for five minutes.
  • Next, you should add the garlic, mushrooms, oregano and marjoram.
  • Allow cooking for five minutes then removing from heat and let it cool for another five minutes.
  • Grab your eggs and beat them in a medium sized bowl.
  • Add the oats, soy sauce, quinoa, cheese and pecans in the egg mix.
  • Pour half a cup of the mix on your baking sheet and make into eight patties.
  • Make sure you leave at least one inch space between the patties so that they don’t crumble.
  • Bake in your oven for 30-minutes and serve.

It is a simple meal that’s highly nutritious as it contains all classes of nutrients including carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vegetables. It is also not too heavy for dinner and can serve eight people at a go.
