Cheapest Ways to Buy Your Kids Sports Gears

Enrolling your child in a sports team is one of the best lifetime gifts you can give him or her. However, sports don’t come cheaply. You have to pay for things like registration fees, team fees, and buy sports gear; but it’s not nice to deprive your children of the chance to enroll in sports. You also do not have to pay the hard way either. I have three kids, all enrolled in different sports in their schools and local gyms. I have never had to pay through my nose to get them sports gear because I found smart ways to get what they need rather inexpensively. You can get sports gear very inexpensively by following these tips:

Check with other sports parents
One of the cheapest and smartest ways to get sports gears is inquire from sports parents. Parents whose kids have outgrown some sports gear may be willing to sell them off to other parents. So you should consider checking with parents of other children on your child’s team. You can get a very good offer on gently used sports gears this way.

Try asking on social media
Some of your friends and family might have old sports gear in their homes that they don’t know what to do with them, or they may know someone who would be willing to give out their old equipment or sell for cheap. Simply do a post on your social media page stating what you want and adding that you would be willing to pay for it.

You would be surprised at the responses you would get because a lot of people usually have these things in their home that they end up discarding or selling at garage sales. It wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Buy In bulk
Sellers are always willing to give out discounts for bulk purchases. So instead of walking into a store to pick up sports gears for your kids, talk to other parents on your child’s team, or to your friends whose kids are also enrolled in sports. Ask them about the possibility of pooling funds together to make a bulk purchase. This way, you can get a lot of discounts from wholesalers and save a lot of money in the process.

Visit garage sales
Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of people have sports gear in their basements and garages that they don’t know what to do with. Some of these people end up organizing garage sales where they can sell them to other people who need them. So you should try visiting some garage sales to see if you can find anything you need on sale.

Check athletic consignment stores
You could also visit athletic consignment stores to see if you can find used sports gear for sale. If you have sports gear that your children are not using, you can also sell them off at these stores to earn back your money. Thrift shops are known to offer quality used apparel and you can find one for your sports child.

There are other ways you can do it. If you don’t like the idea of posting on Facebook, Craigslist is another great place to make a post stating what you are looking for and the good thing is, you can do it anonymously. You should also consider renting sports gear wherever possible instead of buying so that you can save some money.
